PEDESTRIAN INFRASTRUCTURE NEAR SCHOOLS

The BTC acquired a grant from 2011-2014 from the Montana Department of Transportation to improve pedestrian travel in Dillon. In 2012, $75,000 was granted to BTC and administered through the City of Dillon to improve sidewalks and make the intersections near Dillon Elementary School safer.

EDUCATION AND AWARENESS PROGRAMS

In addition, the Montana Department of Transportation grants to BTC supported programs to help pedestrian safety.  In total, over $40,000 was used through the community to aid walking and biking in a variety of ways.

Educational and Safety Events include:

  • Bicycle Recycle Program

  • Journey's from Home bicycle and pedestrian safety training in elementary schools

  • Distribution of bicycle helmets to community members

  • Booths at County Fair and Health Fair

  • Youth Bicycle Rodeo

  • Family Bike/Walk Event
