Pronghorn Pursuit Trail Run 2024

Description

**New date for 2024! We have moved the race to June 1st instead of the usual August date.

**T-shirts are not included in pre-registration this year. We lowered the price and have t-shirts as an add on during the registration process.

**We have a partnership with the Andrus Hotel in Dillon for a %15 discount to Pronghorn Pursuit racers and family. To reserve a room, call (406)-925-5024 and let them know you are a part of the BTC Pronghorn Pursuit event on June 1st. You can review rooms at www.andrushotel.com

Beaverhead Trails Coalition (BTC) teamed up with the Beaverhead County High School (BCHS) Cross Country team in 2019 to bring the first Pronghorn Pursuit Trail Run to the Dillon Community. This is the 5th annual event where a 5K and 15K trail run located on the BTC’s High Trails just outside of Dillon takes place. In 2024 we are hoping to get our name along with other top races in the state. Plan a weekend in Dillon, MT to attend this race and enjoy our trails.

The Pronghorn Pursuit, exclusively off-pavement, meanders through the gorgeous sagebrush hills of the High Trails System, with spectacular views of the Beaverhead River Valley below. The 15k course is challenging and will put your summer fitness to the test with 90% single-track and 2400’ of climbing. The course is a great mix of steep climbs and technical descents interspersed with sections of fast, flowing single-track. The 5K course offers a similar technical mix and the same great views, but at a more manageable scale for many runners. You can still expect to be challenged by this course, with some steeper sections climbing over 500’, but can look forward to the last kilometer being all downhill and smiles.

We invite you to visit our community, because we are a fun loving and hard working people.  Dillon is located in Beaverhead County, which is home to a truly diverse group of Montanans, and totals close to three and half million acres.  With room to roam, outdoor recreation abounds.  Dillon is unique; it is a thriving small town that supports literally every type of small business including our local beloved flower shops, bookstores and eclectic coffee shops. We can't wait to see your smiling faces the weekend of June 1st!

BBQ and awards will follow the races at the Trailhead. Runners are admitted free.  Spectators pay $5.00.

Early Race Packet pick-up and late registration will be the day before the race from 3pm to 6pm. This will be located at the Patagonia Outlet store and please feel free show up early to shop and have drinks and snacks.

The track may change for the 15k. We will keep this page updated and update the maps if the track changes.

Pronghorn Pursuit Trail Run New Date! June 1st

For the 5th annual Pronghorn Pursuit Trail Run, we have decided to change things up and try a new date. We are moving the run from it’s regular time in August to June 1st. This accomplishes a couple things for us including:

1. Less likely to have hot weather and get smoked out due to forest fires.

2. June 1st is National Trails Day which seems like a natural fit for us.

3. Less competetition from other nearby races.

We are also planning to expand the event and have some fun family activities at the trailhead in the afternoon. More information to come soon for that.

If you are interested in running in the race, please visit the link below.

Great Harvest Bake Days February 7-9

Breaking Bread, Building Dreams: Great Harvest Raises Dough for the Beaverhead Trails

Coalition & Montana Youth Challenge Academy!

Breaking Bread, Building Dreams: Great Harvest Raises Dough for the Beaverhead Trails Coalition & Montana Youth Challenge Academy!

Dillon, MT. January 17, 2024. Dillon’s Great Harvest Bread Company will be raising bread and funds for two great local causes, The Beaverhead Trails Coalition & the Montana Youth Challenge Academy. The Montana Youth Challenge Foundation or MYCF is a residential academic intervention program on the campus of the University of Montana Western for 16–18-year-old students who are seeking an opportunity for change. The funds will allow them to give larger scholarships to cadets attending college, job corps, trade schools, or starting a career.

The Beaverhead Trails Coalition since its founding in 2009, has pursued the goal of a community with easy access to safe and enjoyable walking and bicycling opportunities in Beaverhead County. Funds from the bake day would go towards finishing the Noble Avenue Trail, a keystone segment in Dillon’s planned network of walking/biking trails.

Great Harvest’s featured sandwich for the February Bake Days will be the California Cobb! Sliced turkey breast, fresh avocado, and crispy bacon, with bleu cheese spread, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and salt & pepper mix. Fresh made on Honey Whole Wheat bread. We’ll also be baking Cheddar Garlic, White Chocolate Cranberry Swirl, King Cakes, and Everything bread. Also on the menu are all the Dillon favorites, like Honey Whole Wheat, Cinnamon Chip, Dakota, and Farmhouse White breads. Goodies on the menu are Snickerdoodle Cookies, Chocolate Bliss Cookies, Blueberry Streusel Muffins & Teacakes, Cappuccino Muffins & Teacakes, Cinnamon Rolls, Brownies & Blondies, and of course Dillon Cookies!

The Dillon bakery serves as a model for Great Harvest stores nationwide, and new owners come toDillon to understand the intricacies of what it takes to own and operate a successful store. Fundraiser events are held in conjunction with these new-owner visits to provide them with a real-world retail experience before returning to their own community to open a store.

Great Harvest invites everyone to stock up on the fresh out-of-the-oven breads and treats.  The bakery, located at 25 E. Glendale St, we will be open February 7th ,8th, and 9th at 7am to 2pm.  Online ordering and curbside delivery will be available.

New Trail Open!

Exciting News! We opened a new trail on the High Trails last week on our “Land Bridge” acquisition from last year. This connects our High Trails property to the BLM land to the north, greatly improving public access to public lands. The new trail is a 1.0 mile loop and is currently marked with flags and can be found off the NW corner of the Northwest Passage Trail. There are so many people and organizations to thank for making this whole thing possible including: The Kendeda Fund, countless local donors, Montana Fish and Wildlife Conservation Trust, Raven’s Perch, and The Wilderness Society.

Thank you all for your tireless support and we look forward to seeing you on the trails.
